Does My Kid Need Braces?

Probably the single most popular question we get everyday. The right answer? Probably. Many statistics show that over 90% of Americans could benefit from straighter teeth. Unfortunately, there is a lot more that goes into deciding if your kid needs to see an orthodontist. There are plenty of practitioners waiting to exchange your HSA for straight teeth. The real question should be when. If you end up seeing an orthodontist too early, you may end up paying for straight baby teeth, only to have to shell out more money after they all fall out. Some kids can benefit from so-called “phase 1″ and “phase 2″ treatment. As a general rule, if you can tell he needs braces from across the room and he or she is less than 1 they could probably benefit from seeing an orthodontist. Otherwise, it makes the most sense to wait until all of the baby teeth have fallen out, typically around the ages of 12-13. Big problems are better treated early, otherwise phase 1 and phase 2 just translate into broke once broke twice. Though we don’t offer braces as a service, we can help you plan the best time for your child to seek this care!
